(PROJECT 08)
FIELD NOTES
COVER IMAGE — 16:9
(OVERVIEW)
Editorial system and custom display typeface for a quarterly.
(CHALLENGE)
A quarterly about walking and landscapes wanted a format that felt both scientific and poetic.
(APPROACH)
We drew a narrow display typeface from old survey maps and paired it with a rigorous editorial grid.

(THE STORY)
The brief
Field notes came to us looking for a quarterly that reads like a well-worn map. The goal was not to add more, but to find the few elements that could carry the whole brand with confidence.
What we made
Over several months we worked side by side with the Field Notes team — from early workshops to the final launch files. Every decision was tested against one question: does this make the work clearer?
The result is a system that is easy to use, hard to break and quiet enough to last for years.
